As an alternative to plastic surgery, consider a Vampire facelift, which uses your body’s own plasma to rejuvenate your appearance. At Keller Plastic Surgery, Dr. Gregory S. Keller, a board-certified facial plastic surgeon, and his team of dedicated specialists provide Vampire facelifts and other innovative treatments for residents of Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, Beverly Hills and neighboring areas in Southern California.

What is a Vampire Facelift?

A Vampire facelift is not as scary as it sounds: it’s actually a revolutionary procedure that uses PRP or platelet-rich plasma drawn from your own body, to achieve smoother, younger-looking skin. The Vampire facelift is currently the most advanced skin regeneration treatment available in the cosmetic industry.

How Can the Vampire Facelift Improve My Appearance?

While a Vampire facelift will improve the overall condition of your skin by stimulating the body’s own natural healing process, it is especially recommended for patients who want to address the following conditions:

  • Dark circles under the eyes
  • Crow’s feet at the corners of the eyes
  • Sun damage
  • Acne scars
  • Stretch marks
  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Thin, sagging skin on the neck and chest or around the eyes
  • Rough, dull, ashy, or uneven skin texture

How is a Vampire facelift performed?

The Vampire facelift requires several steps. First, a sample of blood is drawn from the patient’s arm. This blood sample is then put into a centrifuge that spins at a very high speed, causing the plasma and blood to separate. The plasma is isolated and “activated” by the addition of calcium chloride, which causes it to release its growth factors. When the activated plasma is injected into your face, it triggers your body to increase its production of collagen, and skin begins to heal naturally as the growth factors in your plasma gradually trigger your skin to produce healthy new stem cells as well as fresh collagen, fortifying the skin and blood vessels. Over the next two to three months, you will see a gradual rejuvenation prompted by your body’s natural healing mechanism.

Am I a good candidate for a Vampire facelift?

While a Vampire facelift uses PRP derived from your own body and is, therefore, unlikely to produce any adverse allergic reaction, this treatment is not suitable for individuals with certain medical conditions affecting the blood, such as bone cancers, blood cancers, or anemia. If you are taking prescription blood thinners or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), you may have to temporarily suspend taking them for several days before and after your Vampire facelift, or as advised by Dr. Keller or any of our treatment specialists.

Is the Vampire facelift painful?

Immediately after treatment, some patients experience tenderness and redness in the skin, similar to a sunburn and lasting for a few days. Some patients may also experience minor bruising. Redness will subside by the second day, and you may experience minor swelling and roughness of the skin about a day or two after your procedure. Most of the swelling will subside by the third day, but the roughness may linger up to seven days. There is no prescribed recovery period after a Vampire facelift, and most patients are able to return to their normal activities immediately after treatment.

What kind of results can I expect after a Vampire Facelift?

You may see some initial improvement within a few days after the procedure, but far more dramatic improvements will become visible after two or three months when you will see fresh new skin that feels and looks firmer and more radiant. Depending on your lifestyle and age, as well as how well you take care of your skin and protect yourself from sun damage, the results may last one to two years.
