Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing

Fractional laser treatment is performed with a device that divides a laser beam into thousands of microscopic treatment zones, each targeting a minuscule section of the skin. The process is comparable to the process of a enhancing a photographic image pixel by pixel.

What conditions does Fractional Laser treatment address?

Fractional laser treatments achieve dramatic improvement in the texture and tone of the skin and treat surface imperfections on the face, neck, chest, hands, arms, legs, and back. Typical conditions that are successfully treated with fractional laser include moderate acne scarring, discoloration, fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, age spots, certain cases of melasma, and scars resulting from surgery or injury. Fractional laser treatments also diminish the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes and on the eyelids. The treatment also removes precancerous lesions on the skin by gently scraping away sun-damaged skin to reveal a fresh new layer of skin cells.

Who is an ideal candidate for Fractional Laser treatments?

While skin resurfacing with a fractional laser is safe for any healthy adult, this treatment is more suitable for patients under 50, and to remove imperfections on the surface of the skin rather than in the deeper layers. Fractional lasers are not normally used to treat redness but may be somewhat effective in treating brown pigmentation. What can I expect after Fractional laser treatments?

Your skin may feel somewhat tender following a fractional laser treatment, but most patients resume regular physical activities within one to two days after treatment. The most important thing to keep in mind is that you must avoid exposure to direct sunlight for several weeks following the treatment. We recommend wearing a protective hat as well as daily use of a sun block with SPF 30 or more. If you participate in outdoor summer activities, it would be best to have this treatment done in the winter.
