Botox

Botox® is a cosmetic treatment that is injected directly into the treatment area using a very fine needle. Botox Santa Barbara imparts renewed radiance and smoothness to the skin, diminishing fine lines and wrinkles as well as other visible signs of the aging process such as sagging.

How does Botox® improve a person’s appearance?

Botox® works by temporarily immobilizing facial muscles through the use of a substance known as Botulinum toxin type A. Botox® is injected directly into the treatment area using a fine-gauge needle. The number of injections required typically depends on how many wrinkles, creases, and lines you want to treat. A single Botox® treatment typically provides results that last about four to six months, and patients return at regular intervals for follow-up treatments. Over the course of time, the facial muscles start to relax naturally, and patients will require fewer follow-up treatments.

Why is Botox® so popular?

Botox® has remained popular throughout the years because it genuinely works! For decades now, patients continue to receive the following benefits from using Botox®:

  • Diminishes the appearance of wrinkles, lines, and creases on the face
  • Enhances the skin by adding firmness and radiance
  • Improves self-confidence
  • Relieves migraines
  • Controls symptoms of overactive bladder
  • Reduces underarm perspiration

Who can benefit from Botox®?

Any healthy adult who wants to achieve a more youthful look can benefit from Botox® treatment. Botox® is an excellent preventative treatment for younger patients to guard against wrinkles and lines caused by repetitive gestures. It is also great for mature skin, restoring smoothness, firmness, and elasticity. Over time, the muscles affected by treatments relax on their own, and you will have a permanent reduction in these lines and wrinkles. If you want to gradually treat wrinkles, creases, and fine lines in your face, Botox® may be your solution.

Is there any preparation required for Botox®?

Dr. Keller will evaluate your medical history to make sure you can use Botox®, but you must inform our staff about any other dermal filler injections you may have had recently. If you’ve had other injections in the past four months, or if you are taking medications, including aspirin and other blood thinners, allergy medications, sleep aids, NSAIDS, or muscle relaxers, you may need to temporarily suspend taking those medications to prepare for Botox® treatments.

Botox® has been used by thousands of men and women to improve their appearance, and you can get Botox® treatment at nearby Keller Plastic Surgery, led by Dr. Gregory S. Keller, a board-certified plastic surgeon, and serving residents of Santa Barbara. Contact any of our convenient offices today to schedule a complimentary consultation!
