How to Jumpstart a Back-to-School, Fall Skincare Reset!

You might not be ready to kiss the summer season goodbye just yet, but chances are good that your skin is! All those beach days, chlorine and saltwater, excess UV rays, etc. can put wear and tear on your skin. As we usher Fall in, the new season is a perfect time to hit the “reset” button for our skin, too.

During this time of year, we tend to see a lot of high school and college aged students coming in for acne treatments to clear up their complexions before heading back to school. A great Mom & Daughter or Son package is combining Dr. Keller’s IPL treatment for getting rid of any sunspots the summer rays left, and a microneedling treatment for your student, to eradicate acne or acne scars, so everyone can start the year fresh!

IPL – The answer to no more sunspots!

Sunspots are annoying at best, and concerning at worst. Spare yourself the repeat concealer applications, and hop in to see Dr. Keller for a quick and easy IPL treatment, to clear those sun spots for good. Wondering all about IPL? Here are the quick facts:

What is IPL treatment?

An Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Photofacial is a laser light treatment that targets pigment issues, such as brown spots, sun damage and red spots, and Rosacea.

How does IPL work?

The bright light passes through the epidermis, drawing out the pigment producing cells and dispersing the uneven pigment.

Can I have IPL done on my body, or face only?

IPL Photofacial™ can be used on the face, neck, chest, shoulders, back arms, legs and just about anywhere else. Photofacial is also an effective treatment for broken veins and spider veins. According to Stanford Medical University, the long-term effects of Photofacial actually reverse the signs of aging.

What can IPL treat?

  • Freckles

  • Brown and red spots

  • Sun Damage

  • Spider Veins

  • Redness Rosacea (enlarged facial blood vessels)

  • Pigment Imperfections

How Many IPL Photofacial™ Treatments Do I need?

For best results, 3-5 treatments are typically recommended, about four weeks apart.

Once Mom is glowing in her new Fall skin, it’s time for the students in your family to hit the “reset” button too! A microneedling treatment is the perfect fresh start procedure to put some pep in your step this school year! For acne scarring and acne, our Intensif RF microneedling is so good that our office impressed the “Doctor’s Show” when they put our procedures to their test on tv.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling, also referred to as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive treatment that triggers collagen production in skin cells by means of a specialized microneedling device. Increased collagen production improves the overall volume, elasticity, and firmness of the skin.

What skin conditions can Microneedling treat?

Microneedling is a very diverse treatment, and has been proven safe and effective in alleviating the following skin conditions:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Sun damage
  • Age spots
  • Scars
  • Stretch marks
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Rosacea
  • Acne and acne scars
  • Enlarged pores
  • Hair loss caused by various conditions

What are the benefits of Microneedling?

Microneedling has become popular among patients and doctors alike because it triggers natural collagen production while keeping the top layer of the skin intact. Microneedling has proven to be very effective and is also relatively affordable. The procedure is simple and safe, and produces instantly visible results, with continued improvements for several weeks.

What can I expect after my Microneedling treatment?

The procedure produces a tingling “prickly” sensation that, while somewhat irritating, is not painful. The treatment may cause temporary redness and minor swelling for up to two hours, accompanied by a stinging sensation similar to a mild sunburn. Men may be advised to postpone shaving the facial area for several days following the procedure. Results will be visible instantly with increased improvement over several weeks as increased collagen production continues to increase volume and fullness in the skin cells.
